Our M.Ed. Programme was first recognised by NCTE(F.No./NRC/NCTE/NRCAPP-2590/2015/108087-91) in the year 2013 which sanctioned the intake of 50 students per unit( at max 1 unit), this course is affiliated to Punjabi University Patiala(6272/Colleges) and the affiliation has been there since 2013.

M.Ed. stands for ‘Master of Education’ or ‘Master in Education’. It is a Postgraduate Academic Master Degree Course. It is normally a 2 years program with 2 Semesters, however some institutes offer a 1 year Regular M.Ed. course like – Shivaji University. The minimum period of passing the course is 2 years and the maximum is 4 years. This period duration may vary from institute to institute. Master of Education Course can be pursued either as a Regular Course or through Correspondence/Distance Education Mode. The correspondence course is of 1 year duration. Masters Degree in Education is available in various subjects. Masters in Education Programs involves instruction, counselling, and administration. It is especially meant for educators preferring to advance their skills in the field. Masters Degree in Education is provided all over India in various Universities. Master of Education course is offered at most of the District Institute of Education Training (DIET) centres across India. M.Ed. is mainly offered by institutions that are recognized by National Council of Teacher Education, New Delhi. It is a government body in charge of improving and implementing teacher education programmes in the country. It is essential to pursue the M.Ed. courses if one is interested in pursuing a teaching career. In every state in India there are several institutions that offer Master of Education courses.   1. Those who have acquired their Bachelor of Education degree can pursue Masters Degree in Education. Percentage of marks varies from institute to institute though 55% in B.Ed./B.El.Ed. is the most common percentage.
  2. The admission to the course is based on merit, the admission procedure and mode of selection may vary from one university to another.
  3. Some universities or state conduct their own entrance examination, in order to select deserving candidates.
  4. For General Category candidates 50% marks in B.Ed. or B.A. with E.T.T. with, 5% relaxation for SC/ST BC.

Note :
  • A student will choose elementary school stage (a) or secondary school stage (b) courses from S.No. 11 to 15 (all five courses will be either for elementary or secondary school stage).
  • The practical-cum-field work including three main experience based activities i.e. school based, teacher education based and research work leading to dissertation is to be conducted and evaluated during all the four semester in a comprehensive and continuous manner, a detailed outline of the same will be available by mid-July 2015 before the commencement of academic session.
