About The Institution – Guru Nanak Dev College of Education

Guru Nanak Dev College of Education has been started by experienced and well-known educationists who exhibited commitment to the noble cause of education for more than three decades. The institution has been started with a mission to provide education for excellence through rich resources of library and well-equipped laboratories. The college was started with the Bachelor of Education Course in 2005 (Affiliated to Punjabi University, Patiala, recognized with NCTE, Jaipur and accredited by NAAC with Grade ‘B’. The college is offering M. Ed., B. Ed. and E.T.T. The college is catering to needs of the rural segment of the state in meeting the growing demands of the state with the help of competent and qualified teachers.

History

GND College of Education is a venture started by a team of very experienced and well known educationists who exhibited commitment to the noble cause of education for more than three decades. The institution has been started with a mission to provide education for excellence through a variety of educational resources. It has a rich library, well equipped laboratories for language-learning and teaching of Sciences, Social Sciences, Psychology and for application of technology assisted learning. The exposure to richness of Indian culture and heritage is ensured through a variety of cultural activities. The physical dimension of personality is taken care of through games and sports. The effectiveness of the classroom practitioners is ensured through the micro lesson sessions with feedback sessions through CCTV and peer group interaction for subsequent improvement. Thus the purpose of the instruction has shifted from mere theoretical orientation to experiential practices. The tutorials, group discussions, brain storming sessions and seminars provide a creative forum to students. Also, the extensive use of innovative technology like team teaching, simulated teaching and interaction analysis to develop the requisite competencies among the teacher trainees is an addendum to the attempt at thoroughness of the teacher preparation.

Infastructure

The land area available is 4171.2 square meters and the built up area also accounts for the same, the land is on ownership basis. There’s Fire Safety equipment installed throughout the campus alongwith a ramp and wheelchair assistance to provide support for differently abled. There are no hostel facilities available.

The Infrastructure includes the following items : -

15 classrooms, each having a built up area of 600 sq. ft.
A Multipurpose hall of 3261 sq. ft.
A library cum reading room of 1500 sq. ft.
An ICT resource centre of 900 sq. ft.
A Curriculum Laboratory of 2400 sq. ft.
An Art & Resource Centre of 900 sq. ft.
A Health and Physical education resource centre of 300 sq. ft.
A Multipurpose Playfield of 3261 sq. ft.
