Our B.Ed. Programme was first recognised by NCTE(F.No./NRC/NCTE/PB-235,PB-530/2015/99319-323) in the year 2015 which sanctioned the intake of 50 students per unit(at max 2 units), this course is affiliated to Punjabi University Patiala(5976-College/GC-I) and the affiliation has been there since 2005.

B.Ed.stands for an undergraduate academic course known as Bachelor of Education. Earlier it was known as Bachelor of Training (BT). It is a course offered for those who are interested in pursuing career in teaching and related fields. Also referred as ‘Bachelor in Education’ or in some universities as ‘Siksha Shastri’, its duration generally lasts 2 years. Bachelor of Education Course can also be pursued through Correspondence or Distance Learning which is generally of 2 Years duration. While students from Arts Stream are trained to teach subjects like History, Civics, Geography and Languages. The students from Science Stream are trained to teach Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The B.Ed. degree course is mandatory for teaching in higher primary schools and high schools. National Council for Teacher Education is statutory body which regulates courses in teaching in India. The B.Ed. degree is mandatory for teaching in higher primary schools and high schools.

  1. The minimum qualification required for entry into B.Ed. course is Bachelor of Arts (B.A),Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) or Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) form a recognised board/university with at least 50% marks.
  2. Students need to appear in an entrance test conducted by the various states and Independent educational bodies and universities for admission in various teaching institutions attached with it according to the rank of the candidate in the entrance exam.
  3. These exams are generally held in the month of June-July and consist of Objective type questions on the subject of English, General Knowledge, Aptitude, Basic Arithmetic Teaching Potential and one local language in some states. SEMESTER-I
PART-I : THEORY
  • Evaluation in this part will be external as well as internal.
  • Each theory paper I, II and III will be of three hours duration.
  • Each theory paper IV & V pedagogy of a school subject I & II will be of 1 1/2 hours duration.
  • Each theory paper VI (Exploring Library and other Learning Resources) and Paper VII (Art in Education) will be of 11/2 hours.
SEMESTER-II
PART-I : THEORY
  • Evaluation in this part will be external as well as internal
  • Each theory paper VIII, IX and X will be of three hours duration.
  • Each theory XI &XII Pedagogy of a school subject I & II will be of 11/2 hours duration.
  • Each theory paper XIII ( School Management) and Paper XIV ( Enriching Learning Through ICT) will be of 11/2 hours
SEMESTER-III
  • Evaluation in this part will be external as well as internal
  • Evaluation Skill-in-Teaching Paper XV & XVI will be external as well as internal.
  • Evaluation in this session work XVII will be external as well as internal.
SEMESTER-IV
  • Evaluation in this part will be external as well as internal
  • Evaluation XVIII (Assessment for Learning) will be of three hours duration.
  • Evaluation XIX (Gender, School and Society) XX (Inclusive School), XXI (Understanding the Self), XXII (Reading and Reflecting on Texts), XXII (Strengthening Language Proficiency), XXIV (Health and Physical Education), XXV & XXVI (Optional Courses) will be of 11/2 hours.
